“Mum, i’m ready for school.”

Storytime...

We recently received a message from one of our amazing partnering schools, asking for help. Two young girls were about to start school for the very first time—but they didn’t have backpacks, stationery, or even school uniforms.

Of course, we jumped into action. A few days later, the girls had their very own backpacks, filled with all the essentials to help them start their learning journey feeling confident and included.

Then we got this email—and honestly, it melted our hearts:

“Thank you so much for the bag, stationery and other goodies. At first she wasn't sure what was happening and looked so happy when she realised that the bag was for her. Her smile was priceless. She looked inside the bag and found all the books etc and her friends helped her to name them and put them away with theirs. She was so happy! She was also delighted to have a drink bottle.
This is a great way for us to start her schooling here in Aotearoa, thank you so much!”

Moments like this are why we do what we do.

At the heart of our mission is the belief that every child deserves to feel seen, valued, and equipped to thrive—especially in those early days that shape their educational journey. We envision a future where access to basic learning tools isn't a barrier, but a given. And we work every day, guided by our values of kindness, equity, and community, to make that future real.

Emails like these are our favourite kind of inbox surprise. They remind us that a backpack isn’t just a backpack—it’s a symbol of belonging, hope, and opportunity.

Let’s keep putting smiles on little faces, together.
