it’s more than a backpack.

It’s their story of hope.

welcome to back2school project

Kia ora! We are so glad you are here! At Back2School Project (or B2SP), it’s our mission to break the cycle of hardship by providing stationery and backpacks to primary-aged students in Auckland, ensuring they have the tools they need to succeed from the start of their academic year. We want to see a community where young minds are empowered and dignity is worn with a smile. We want to see a community where no child feels left behind.

Every child deserves this chance, and with your support, we can make a lasting difference.

We do the work that we do so that every student can walk into school feeling these things. When we work together, a backpack becomes more than a backpack. It is us, as a community, telling our tamariki that they are not alone.

VALUED. CONFIDENT. SEEN.

join the movement

A backpack symbolises readiness, potential, and a new beginning. It represents the starting point of a child's educational journey. We believe that every child deserves the chance to start the school year confident and excited. With your support, we can make a lasting difference. Because, with your support, it's more than a backpack...it's their story of hope.

what we believe

each backpack is a child

We strongly believe that a backpack isn’t just a bag—it represents a child with dreams, potential, and a future full of possibilities. Each backpack we provide honours our commitment to seeing every child as an individual, deserving of choice and dignity.

one piece of stationery at a time

Back2School Project strives to extend beyond tangible needs, break down the barriers of educational inequality, and open doors so that all students know that they can dream big. We strive to break the cycle of hardship, one piece of stationery at a time.

community helping community

A pencil by itself does nothing but sit in a box. A piece of paper just gathers dust. But when they are paired together, they create the unimaginable. When we are paired with our community, we are set up to provide the tools for success for our tamariki.

one day starts with day one

As kids, we all dreamed of what our lives would look like one day–the adventures we would go on and the jobs we would have. But one day starts with day one. And on that first day of school–no matter when it comes–every child deserves to walk in fully equipped and ready to go, confident in their ability to learn and grow.

“When our new student received her stationery her face lit up. She looked around at the other students and saw that she had the same and smiled back at me. I think she felt included and seen. Such a great way to start in a new school in a new country.”

“I was happy because the bag was so cute and pretty and it was pink and I love the colour pink. My favourite was all of it! Thank you so much I really loved it and I’ve never had this before.”

Local parent

“Being elected to receive the stationery has been a relief for our family, especially with having 3 children. With the cost of living rising, this was one less responsibility we had to worry about and we are more than grateful to the team at Back2School Project who help families such as ours.”

year 7 student

“I felt good because I didn’t have to buy my own stationery because it took a long time to wait last year. I also liked getting the bag because it came with a towel and toothbrush and toothpaste. My favourite part was the hat and the headphones and also the water bottle. Thank you for giving and providing bags for our school.”
